Vance County Board of Commissioners Chairperson Carolyn Faines has scheduled a special called meeting Monday, Apr. 20 at 4 p.m. in reference to a rezoning request that had been continued at the board’s regular monthly meeting on Apr. 6.
The special called meeting will be held in the commissioners’ room on the second floor of the county administrative building, 122 Young St. The meeting also can be viewed on the county’s YouTube channel.
According to the notification, the purpose of the meeting is to consider and take action on the rezoning request of a 40-acre parcel of land located along U.S. Hwy. 158 Business.
The county planning board had recommended approval of the rezoning request from EIA (Employment Institutional Area) to LI (Light Industrial).
Following public comment during the Apr. 6 meeting, during which the majority of the 20 speakers voiced opposition, the board agreed to continue the matter.
