On November 16, 2025 at approximately 6:26 a.m., deputies from the Vance County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Julia Street regarding a death investigation. Upon arrival, deputies located a male victim, later identified as 36-year-old Darnell Thomas Macon suffering from a gunshot wound. Life-saving measures were ultimately performed prior to Vance County EMS arriving. Mr. Macon, however, succumbed to his injuries while at the scene.
Several interviews are being conducted regarding the investigation. The Vance County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations are actively investigating the case.
