On June 11, 2026, at approximately 9:47 a.m., deputies with the Vance County Sheriff’s Office responded to 51 Lynnbank Estates Road in Kittrell, North Carolina, in reference to a report of two gunshot victims.
Upon arrival, deputies located 38-year-old Michael Faulkner of Franklinton, North Carolina, and 26-year-old Ayanna Williams of Kittrell, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Faulkner was pronounced deceased at the scene. Williams was transported to Maria Parham Health, where she received treatment for her injuries.
Deputies detained 23-year-old Amari Williams at the scene as a suspect in the shooting. Investigators with the Vance County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded and assumed the investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Amari Williams was charged with one count of First-Degree Murder and one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury. Williams was transported to the Vance County Detention Center and is being held without bond.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Crime Scene Unit is assisting the Vance County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
