The Brodie Road waste convenience site located at 900 Brodie Road, Henderson, will now be open on Sundays. The site will open at 11:00 am and close at 6:00 pm each Sunday during the year. This is a service improvement approved by the Vance County Board of Commissioners to improve access for customers as well as a way to decrease illegal dumping in the area. Please take note there are NO planned changes in operating days and/or hours at the other county owned convenience sites located across the County. Those operating times will remain the same. On Sunday, September 20th Big Ruin Creek Missionary Baptist Church will be hosting their Homecoming Services. Sunday School will begin at 9:30 AM and Morning Worship Service will begin at 11 AM. The Gospel Choir will be singing, Pastor Charles Burwell will be giving a life-changing sermon and dinner will follow the service. The church is located at 16 Big Ruin Creek Ln in Henderson.

In an effort to combat a growing litter issue in our community, the City of Henderson is formally inviting residents, businesses, and schools to be part of CommUNITY Cleanup Day scheduled for FRIDAY, September 29, 2023. Last year, City employees and citizens picked up litter that culminated in over 2,000 lbs of collected trash. We want and need you to be part of this important project.
This is a great opportunity to work together to clean our streets, neighborhoods, and any identified areas in need of trash removal.

Vance County Fire Departments and Vance County Schools present the Vance County Public Safety Expo on Saturday, September 3oth from 10am until 2pm at the old Charles Boyd Chevrolet location on US 158 Bypass. The annual Shop with a Cop fundraiser, sponsored by the Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce along with partners Henderson Police Chief Marcus Barrow and Vance Co. Sheriff Curtis Brame, is back for 2023. The Shop with a Cop program benefits disadvantaged youth in the community. Gold, silver and bronze sponsorship opportunities are available. Proceeds from the sale of sponsorships go to provide a shopping excursion for disadvantaged youth who are assisted by a local law enforcement officer. National Night Out Against Crime is Tuesday, October 3rd from 5 until 8pm on Breckenridge St. in Downtown Henderson! Presentations and displays from the Henderson Police Dept., Vance Co. Families Living Violence Free will hold a Quarter Auction on Friday Oct. 6th at the The Barn at Vino, 3200 Bliss Trail in Stem. Doors open at 5:45pm, Dinner is at 6:15 and the auction begins at 7pm.
