Who: Baskerville Funeral Home Community Information Series. Parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, guardians, business leaders, and concerned citizens who care about the future of children and families in the community are invited.

What: The next Community Information Series will feature information about the free programs and services offered through Franklin Granville Vance Smart Start.

When: Tuesday, September 8, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Where: Baskerville Funeral Home Chapel, 104 S. Chestnut Street, Henderson, NC.

Additional Details: Dr. Linda Frederickson, Early Childhood Systems Director with Franklin Granville Vance Smart Start, will present information about community offerings, family services, and support available for early childhood educators. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. All are encouraged to attend and learn more about resources that help support young children, families, educators, and the broader community.

Who: Union Chapel Church of Kittrell Missions

What: Monthly Cruise In for Christ event featuring classic cars and trucks, weather permitting.

When: Saturday, September 12, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

Where: Tony’s Auto parking lot, 415 Raleigh Road.

Additional Details: Guests can enjoy free hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, onion rings, drinks, an ice cream bar, and good Christian fellowship. A donation box will be available, and all proceeds will support the 2027 Kittrell Revival. Everyone is invited. For additional information, contact Edward Woodlief at 252-767-4044.

Who: The Brick Power Team Ministry is hosting a fundraiser.

What: The weightlifting fundraiser will feature bench press with touch-and-go rules. Hot dogs will be sold at the event.

When: Weigh-in will be held from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, September 18, and from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM on Saturday, September 19. Rules will be reviewed at 9:15 AM, and the meet will start at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 19.

Where: The Brick, the building beside Freedom Life Church on Martin Creek Road in Henderson.

Additional Details: This fundraiser will help raise funds for the Night To Shine program, which is associated with North Henderson Baptist Church. Night to Shine serves children with special needs and people with disabilities. Your support will be greatly appreciated. Adult entry is $50, and teen entry is $40. What: Homecoming Celebration

When: Sunday, September 20, at 11:00 a.m.

Where: At the church at 1211 N. Garnett Street

Additional Details: Reverend Frank Sossamon will be the guest speaker for the morning service. North Henderson Baptist Church invites former members and the community to join in this special celebration. For more information, contact Reverend Eddie Nutt at the church at 252-438-8012.

What: Vance County will hold its annual Opioid Settlement Meeting. The agenda preview includes the state of opioid and substance use in Vance County, an opioid settlement progress report, and community and stakeholder input.

Who: Vance County residents, community partners, and stakeholders are invited to attend.

When: Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

Where: Vance County Administrative Building, Commissioners Meeting Room, 122 Young Street, Henderson.

Additional details: The meeting provides an opportunity for the public to learn about opioid and substance use issues in Vance County, hear updates on opioid settlement progress, and offer input to help guide local efforts.

Who: Central Children’s Home of Oxford, NC

What: Cross Country Festival. There are cross country races open for all ages, as well as a collegiate invitational race. Additionally, there will be a 50/50 raffle drawing supporting the Central Children’s Home of North Carolina.

When: Saturday, September 26

Where: All events will take place on the grounds of the Central Children’s home at 211 W. Antioch Drive, Oxford, NC

What: Tag Sale

When: Every Tuesday and Thursday from 11AM-1PM. Please enter through the Church Office entrance, and a volunteer will guide you through several rooms of the Tag Sale.

Where: First United Methodist Church of Henderson, 114 Church St., Henderson, NC 27536

Why: All Proceeds from the Tag Sale ministry go to support the missions of the United Women in Faith. These missions include the following: Hand-in-Hand, Soup Kitchen, Pinkston Street Elementary Weekend Packs, Area Christians Together in Service (ACTS), the Boys & Girls Club, Lifeline, Community Partners of Hope, Good Neighbor Fund, YMCA Children’s Programs, NC Conference Missions, Methodist Home for Children, and the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).
