Harrington Charged With Triple Homicide in 2018 Harrell St. Murders

On February 13, 2019, investigators from the Henderson Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigations served warrants on Antarious Harrington, age 23, for the murders of Devonte Jamal Jones, Tyheem Shabazz Person, and Dyrel Jermal Kittrell that occurred last year on March 14, 2018, at 227 Harrell Street.

Antarious Harrington is currently serving a previously imposed sentence in a North Carolina Department of Corrections facility.

Investigators have worked tirelessly on this case over the past year to find the person(s) responsible for this heinous act. We are greatly appreciative of Vance County Sheriff Curtis Brame, and the SBI for their assistance in this case. The investigation of this case will continue and we are still actively seeking the public’s assistance with any information they may have.

Vance Co. Father, Son Charged with Murder

-Press Release, Henderson Police Department 

On May 12, 2018, around 10:38 p.m., there was an argument in the 200 Block of Gary Street, Henderson that resulted in gunfire. Officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to the area and found Jaylin Jones, 25, of Macon, NC suffering from a gunshot wound. Jaylin Jones succumbed to his injuries.

During the course of the investigation, a suspect was developed and the following individuals were arrested and charged with the murder of Jaylin Jones:

Scottie Lee Bates II, 21, of Stagecoach Road, Henderson

Scottie Lee Bates, 59, of Sims Ave, Henderson

Both individuals received no bond pending a court hearing on May 14, 2018.

The Henderson Police Department is appreciative of individuals in the community that provided information that led to the arrest of the alleged offenders in this case.

Sixteen Year-Old Dies From Gunshot Wound

Press Release- May 2, 2017

On Friday April 28, 2017, at 4:50 p.m. members of the Henderson Police Department responded to the area of the 100 block of W. Rockspring Street in reference to someone being shot. Upon arrival, officers located George Juan Mayo, 16, with a gunshot wound. Mayo was transported to Duke Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries on April 29, 2017. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation was contacted to assisting with the investigation.

A fifteen year-old male juvenile has been charged with Murder with Malice and is in custody. The juvenile’s information is being withheld due to his age.
