Henderson Police: Multi-Agency ‘Operation Blue Skies’ Nets Arrests, Drugs And Guns

On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, the Henderson Police Department, in partnership with the Vance County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, conducted a coordinated multi-agency enforcement initiative known as Operation Blue Skies throughout the City of Henderson and Vance County.

The primary objective of this operation was to support NC Adult Corrections with compliance checks of individuals currently under probation or post-release supervision, as well as to locate and apprehend individuals with outstanding arrest warrants related to supervision violations.

The operation resulted in multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, along with the seizure of significant quantities of narcotics and several illegal firearms.

During the operation, investigators with the Henderson Police Department obtained and executed a narcotics search warrant at 647 W. Rockspring Street. As a result of the search, investigators seized approximately:

  • 911 dosage units of heroin
  • 8 grams of marijuana
  • Two semi-automatic handguns
  • One assault-style rifle
  • One lever-action rifle
  • Multiple boxes of ammunition
  • Various firearm accessories

As a result of this investigation, Lecreasha Venable, age 28, was arrested and charged with:

  • Two (2) counts of Felony Trafficking Heroin
  • Possession With Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver (PWIMSD) Heroin
  • Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling for a Controlled Substance
  • Simple Possession of Marijuana

Venable was issued a $400,000 secured bond for the new charges, along with an additional $10,000 secured bond for a probation violation. Venable failed to post bond and was remanded to the Vance County Detention Center.

At a second location, Raymon Wright, age 27, was arrested at his residence located at 208 Gillburg Estates Court. Wright was served with an outstanding Order for Arrest for a misdemeanor probation violation and was additionally cited for:

  • Simple Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Wright also received an additional misdemeanor probation violation for possession of a firearm. He was issued a $2,000 secured bond for the Order for Arrest and a $3,000 secured bond for the probation violation. Wright failed to post bond and was remanded to the Vance County Detention Center.

At a third location, Kyron Jordan, age 32, was arrested at his residence located at 1922 Oxford Road. Jordan was charged with a misdemeanor probation violation for possession of a firearm. He was issued a $10,000 secured bond, which he posted, and was subsequently released.

Operation Blue Skies reflects a continued commitment by local and state agencies to ensure compliance among individuals under court-ordered supervision and to enhance public safety by proactively addressing criminal activity within the community.

The Henderson Police Department remains dedicated to working alongside its law enforcement partners to identify and hold accountable those who violate the conditions of their release.

Kevin Barnes Returns As Warden Of Warren Correctional Institution

Secretary of Adult Correction Todd Ishee has named Kevin Barnes as warden of Warren Correctional Institution.

Barnes previously served as warden of Warren Correctional before retiring in 2018.

“Warden Barnes has agreed to come out of retirement and resume his old position, which we greatly appreciate,” Ishee said. “He has more than 30 years of experience as a corrections professional, already proving to be an excellent warden, with high but fair expectations, and I’m sure he will continue to do so.”

As warden, Barnes is responsible for all operations at the Manson facility, which houses approximately 800 male offenders in medium- and minimum-custody housing units. Warren Correctional offers a variety of rehabilitative educational programs, from high-school equivalency courses to At Both Ends of the Leash (ABEL), in which offenders train dogs to assist people with disabilities. Vocational opportunities include a Correction Enterprises plant that manufactures janitorial products.

Barnes began his career in 1987 as a correctional officer at Polk Youth Center. He earned promotions to sergeant in 1992 at Nash Correctional, lieutenant in 1995 at Pasquotank and Craven, captain in 1999 at Pamlico and Franklin, associate warden in 2010 at Wayne and Nash and warden from 2016 to 2018 at Warren. Following retirement, he worked for private security firms and as an administrator of the Nash County Detention Center.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, psychology and religious studies from N.C. Wesleyan College, where he is currently pursuing a master’s degree in criminal justice. He holds an Advanced Corrections Certificate from the N.C. Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission and has completed the NCDAC Correctional Leadership Development Program. He served on the Prison Emergency Response Team (PERT) for 12 years in roles from squad leader to hostage negotiator to the unit’s assistant commander.
