Kittrell Tent Revival Coming Up April 27th-30th

The 3rd annual Kittrell Tent Revival will begin a 4-night run beginning Sunday, Apr. 27, and organizers have lined up preachers and music for each night that’s sure to be inspiring.

The revival is getting bigger and better each year, and organizers are looking forward to this year’s event, which will be held at 27 W. Main St., Kittrell – just across from the Kittrell Fire Department.

As the flyer states, the revival is organized by “one group for one purpose, to lead people to Christ.”

Enjoy free hotdogs beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday and then stay for the evening program that will feature Renita Timberlake and the Revive Church of God Choir. The revival continues through Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Here’s the schedule for the rest of the revival:

  • Monday, Apr. 28: Jason Brown will be the speaker, and the Freedom Life Choir will perform.
  • Tuesday, Apr. 29: Jayden Watkins will be the speaker, and Unashamed will provide music.
  • Wednesday, Apr. 30: Paul Faucette will be the speaker, and Grace Ministries Choir will provide music.

SportsTalk: Black History of Sports in Vance County

Scout Hughes and Steve Lewis talk about the historical athletic programs that were at Kittrell College, a two-year HBCU in Kittrell, NC that has since closed it’s doors. The guys also talk about historically black high schools in the area such as Henderson Institute, Mary Potter, J.R. Hawkins, the Franklin County Training School along with others. As well as the role that the NCHSAC played in high school sports in the state of North Carolina. That and much more on SportsTalk!

The Local Skinny! Community Watch In Kittrell

 

The Kittrell Community Watch will meet on Thursday evening, July 21 at Union Chapel United Methodist Church and President Edward Woodlief invites anyone interested to attend.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church, located in Kittrell at 6535 Raleigh Rd.

Guest speaker is Detective Andrew Bishop with the Vance County Sheriff’s Office and he will discuss the use of drones in law enforcement and how these unmanned remote devices are used to fight crime.

Plank Chapel United Methodist Church is hosting a Resources and Refreshments “brunch” on Saturday, February 29, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Representatives from the Kerr-Tar Area Agency on Aging and Dementia Alliance of North Carolina will provide information and answer questions regarding caregiving, resources and issues with growing older. This conversation is not age-restricted. All ages welcome to come and learn and grow together.

The Kittrell Community Watch will meet Thursday, February 20, 2020, at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Union Chapel United Methodist Church, 6535 US #1 Business S. Kittrell, NC.

The guest speaker will be Capt. John Shelton, Vance County Sheriff’s Office. His topic will be church security and will touch on church policy and lessons learned from recent “church shootings” across the country. He will offer insight on how to protect yourself and others should you be faced with a similar situation.

Guest speaker will be Brindle Wilkins, Jr., Sheriff of Granville County. He will highlight what his county is doing to prevent crime, deal with the drug problem and keep the citizens of his county safe.

Kittrell Community Watch Meeting Thurs, Feb 15, 2018

Kittrell Community Watch will meet at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Union Chapel United Methodist Church located at 6535 Raleigh Road, Henderson. The meeting will take place on Thursday, Feb 15.

Woodlief wrote in an email to WIZS News, “Please note this is a new location for the meetings. A member of the NC State Highway Patrol will be the speaker. Candidates for the May Sheriff Election, Curtis Brame and Billy Gooch will also speak. Light refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.”
