Bank Robbery Suspect Apprehended (2-20-18)

Press Release – Tuesday, February 20, 2018

On February 20, 2018 around 11:30AM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to Carter Bank & Trust at 300 Dabney Drive Ext. in reference to a robbery in progress.

A single individual entered the location and demanded money, and an undisclosed amount of money was obtained from the business. The suspect then fled the scene on a motor vehicle. A description of the vehicle and person was obtained by individuals that were present during the robbery. The vehicle was located a short time later in the area of Raleigh Rd. and Miriam St.

The suspect had fled the scene prior to locating the vehicle and officers checked the surrounding area. A uniformed commander of the Henderson Police Department and a Vance County Deputy checked an abandoned structure on the unpaved portion of Nicholas St., locating the suspect in the rear of that location.

The suspect was identified as 36 year old Johnathan Brookes Faulkner. Faulkner was also wanted in connection with a robbery in Brunswick County, NC on February 14th, 2018. Faulkner has been placed in the Vance County Jail under a $240,000 bond and has a first court appearance of February 27th.

We are grateful for the assistance provided by our citizens, the Vance County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Individual Shot Near Marketplace Saturday – Suspect Surrendered Monday

On February 17, 2018 around 9:00PM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to an individual being shot at 907 S. Beckford Drive, Marketplace Cinema. The incident occurred outside the cinema. The victim was transported to an area facility to receive treatment for his injury. From information gathered during the investigation, the victim was the sole intended target of the assault.

Our officers along with other external agencies worked quickly to identify the suspect and warrants were obtained for the arrest of Kaleb Zijon Perry, age (17). At approximately 3:00 PM today Kaleb Zijon Perry surrendered himself to Henderson Police Department Detectives at the Vance County Courthouse. He received a $110,000 secured bond and has first court appearance date set for March 20th.

HPD Officer Involved Shooting Feb 15, 2018

Press Release – Thursday, February 16, 2018

On February 15, 2018 around 9:15 PM, officers with the Henderson Police Department were executing a search warrant at 538 Skeenes Ave, Henderson. Upon approach and announcing themselves, officers encountered gunfire from in the residence. One officer was struck by the gunfire. Gunfire was returned by the police and one subject, within the residence, was injured.

Both the officer and the individual inside the residence were transported to Maria Parham Medical Center for treatment. The officer that was shot was treated and released during the early hours of the 16th. The suspect, from inside the residence, succumbed to his injury.

Due to the discharging of a Henderson Police Department firearm, the District Attorney’s Office was immediately called and the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) was requested. The SBI is currently handling the investigation of the incident and the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave per our departmental policy.

While this remains open, and an ongoing investigation, the release of any further details about this incident will be in coordination with the District Attorney’s Office and the SBI. The name of the deceased person is being held pending proper notification of family members.

HPD Traffic Stop Yields Two Drug Arrests 2-14-18

Press Release – February 15, 2018

On February 14, 2018 members of the Henderson Police Department Vice-Narcotics Section conducted a traffic stop on Harriett Street, Henderson. During the stop, 100 dosage units of heroin, 4.8 grams of marijuana, and U.S. Currency was seized.

Leshawn Alston, 18, 426 Spring Court, Henderson was arrested and charged with Felony Maintaining a Vehicle, Felony PWIMSD Heroin, Simple Possession of Marijuana, and a Window Tint Violation. He received a $15,000 secured bond pending a court hearing on February 27, 2018 in Vance County.

Tyren Hargrove, 17, 1009 Harriett Street, Henderson was arrested and charged with Felony Conspire to Sell/Deliver Heroin, Sell/Deliver Heroin, and (2 Counts) of Felony PWIMSD Heroin. These charges are based on previous investigations conducted by the Vice-Narcotics Section. Hargrove received a $15,000 secured bond pending a court hearing on February 20, 2018 in Vance County.

HPD Looking for Suspect in Medical Arts Theft

On February 8, 2018 around 10:00 PM a subject took exterior lighting from Medical Arts Pharmacy, 253 Ruin Creek Road Henderson, NC. The subject is described as a white male wearing a tan jacket and possibly was in a tan or silver in color Ford F250 extended cab, long bed truck.

The Henderson Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect involved in these cases. On Wednesday, February 7, 2018 around 10:20 PM, members of the Henderson Police Department responded to Temco Food Mart, 1022 Ruin Creek Road Henderson, NC in reference to an armed robbery. The suspects were described as two black males. One suspect was described as wearing a black hoodie and a bandana, and the other as wearing a dark-colored hoodie and a bandana. Suspects displayed firearms and stole an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency.

On Thursday, February 8, 2018 around 9:50 PM, members of the Henderson Police Department responded to New Dixie Mart, 1201 Dabney Drive Henderson, NC in reference to an armed robbery. The suspects were described as two black males. One suspect was described as wearing a black hoodie, and the other as wearing a gray hoodie and a black jacket. One of the suspects displayed a firearm and stole an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency.

On January 31, 2018 members of the Henderson Police Department Special Response Team and Vice-Narcotics Section conducted a search warrant at 521 Spring Court, Henderson after receiving complaints of drug sales. During the execution of the search warrant 20 grams of heroin, and multiple firearms were located and seized.


 

 

Daryl Russell, 30, 414 Spring Court, Henderson was arrested and charged with Felony Maintaining a Dwelling, Trafficking in Heroin (2 Counts), Felony PWIMSD Heroin, Possession of Firearm by Felon, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He received a $200,000 secured bond and remains in the Vance County Jail pending a court hearing on February 5, 2018 in Vance County.


 

Jermill Blacknall, 29, 521 Spring Court, Henderson was arrested and charged with Felony Maintaining a Dwelling, Trafficking in Heroin (2 Counts), Felony PWIMSD Heroin, Possession of Firearm by Felon, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Mr. Blacknall also was served with two additional warrants for shooting into an occupied dwelling that occurred in 2016. He received a $320,000 secured bond and remains in the Vance County Jail pending a court hearing on February 5, 2018 in Vance County.


 

Dominique Russell, 29, 521 Spring Court, Henderson was arrested and charged with Felony Maintaining a Dwelling, Trafficking in Heroin (2 Counts), Felony PWIMSD Heroin, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She received a $150,000 secured bond and remains in the Vance County Jail pending a court hearing on February 5, 2018 in Vance County.

HPD Search Yields Two Arrests 1-25-18


Press Release – January 26, 2018

On January 25, 2018 members of the Henderson Police Department Special Response Team and Vice-Narcotics Section conducted a search warrant at 1031 Maple Street, Henderson after receiving complaints of drug sales. During the execution of the search warrant 48.8 grams of cocaine, 104 grams of marijuana, three handguns, and U.S. currency was located and seized.

Kacey Hicks, 33, 410 Julia Street, Henderson was arrested and charged with Manufacture Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Trafficking in Cocaine (2 Counts), Felony PWIMSD Cocaine, Felony PWIMSD Marijuana, Possession of Firearm by Felon, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He received a $300,000 secured bond and remains in the Vance County Jail pending a court hearing on February 5, 2018 in Vance County.

He received a $300,000 secured bond and remains in the Vance County Jail pending a court hearing on February 5, 2018 in Vance County.

Fatal I-85 Collision Involved Moped

Press Release – Saturday, January 20, 2018

The Henderson Police Department is investigating a fatality motor vehicle collision that occurred between the 214 and the 213 southbound mile marks on I-85 that occurred around 5:11 AM this morning. The collision involved a moped that was in the right lane, a passenger car, and a commercial motor vehicle. The passenger vehicle collided with the moped and the driver of the moped was ejected and remained in the roadway. A commercial motor vehicle collided with the driver that was in the roadway. The moped driver was pronounced deceased on-scene. I-85 southbound was closed for a number of hours during the investigation. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending an autopsy at the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office. The collision is under investigation. There are no charges at this time.

Public Help to ID Suspects from Sweepstakes Armed Robbery

The Henderson Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying individuals involved in an armed robbery that occurred on January 15, 2018 at the Sweepstakes Casino on South Beckford Drive, Henderson. Suspect vehicle is described as a black in color four-door vehicle. One of the suspects was described as a white male wearing a half skull mask displaying a handgun. One of the suspects wore a distinctive backpack that we are asking to public’s help in identifying.
