September is National Recovery Month, which celebrates people in long-term recovery and encourages individuals in need of treatment and recovery services to seek help.
“It is estimated over 23 million Americans are addicted to alcohol and/or other drugs, and just as many American adults are living in recovery. For each person actively addicted, or recovering, there are family members, loved ones and communities affected by the disease of addiction,” said Gina DeMent, Community Engagement, with Cardinal Innovations Healthcare.
In an email to WIZS News, DeMent said, “Please join us as we walk to change the stigma of addiction, and celebrate the hope of recovery! The “Gift of Recovery” walk will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 1 at the Henderson Police Department – Courtyard on Breckenridge St. in Henderson.”
