On December 24, 2016 at approximately 9:45 PM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to Henderson Food Mart in reference an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers found that a Mr. Jason Rodriguez had been robbed while transporting an unknown subject. Mr. Rodriguez stated that he was lost and that the suspect was picked up to provide directions. Mr. Rodriguez was struck in the face two times by the suspect. Taken from Mr. Rodriguez were US currency and a cellular phone.
The investigation is being conducted by members of the Henderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division. If anyone should have any information related to this case, they are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 252-492-1925 or the Henderson Police Department at 252-438-4141. Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $2,000 for information that may lead to an arrest. Callers may remain anonymous.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with Deryl Von-Williams who stated that upon responding after being contacted by the alarm company, found that a window on the rear door was missing. Ms. Von-Williams advised that nothing appeared to have been taken.
The investigation is being conducted by members of the Henderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Short said to WIZS News and other local media and local preparedness teams, “Snow continues to fall in Vance County this morning with more on the way before it ends later today. Presently there appears to be about 5 inches of snow on the ground depending on where you are in the County.
“Primary and secondary roads are dangerous to travel as of now. Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.
“No power outages have been reported as of yet and we do not expect to a great deal of power related problems.
“The 911 Communications Center and our emergency responders are doing a great job processing and responding to emergency calls as they are received. Please be patient, keeping in mind that it may take our responders a little longer than usual to get to calls as travel is dangerous for them as well.
“The Emergency Operations Center for Vance County is presently not activated but can be activated quickly if it should become necessary. We remain poised to implement additional emergency protective measures as the storm progresses if the need should arise.

On Thursday, January 5, 2017, members of the Henderson Police Department Special Operations Unit executed a search warrant at 1453 Perry Avenue. During the search, officers located 6 bricks (300 dosage units) of heroin, 6 firearms, 3 pints of permithrozine with codeine, 4000.00 U.S. currency, 80 Xanax bars, and a substantial quantity of marijuana packaged for sale.
Staron Burton, 19, 1453 Perry Avenue was charged with the following litany of charges: 2 counts of trafficking heroin, manufacturing heroin, possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin, maintaining a dwelling for keeping/selling a controlled substance, manufacturing marijuana and possession of marijuana. Burton was placed in the Vance County Jail after failing to post a secured 150,000.00 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled in Vance County District Court on January 23, 2017.
Yolanda Wilson, 40, 1453 Perry Avenue, was charged with maintaining a dwelling for keeping/selling a controlled substance. Wilson was placed in the Vance County Jail after failing to post a secured 20,000.00 bond. She also will appear in Vance County District Court on January 23, 2017.
