The Vance County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred during the early morning hours of May 23, 2026.
At approximately 3:00 a.m., deputies with the Vance County Sheriff’s Office responded to 457 Lemay Lane in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, deputies located 33-year-old James Boggs, of Henderson, suffering from a gunshot wound. Boggs was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Vance County Sheriff’s Office, alongside the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, is actively investigating the incident.
Preliminary investigation indicates this was an isolated incident, and there is no danger to the general public at this time.
