Warren Mini-Grants Due To Parks And Rec By Oct. 31

There’s still time for nonprofit organizations to submit a mini-grant application to the Warren County Parks and Recreation Department and the Parks and Recreation Commission, but the deadline is Thursday, Oct. 31.

The grant applications are for programs that facilitate the development and support recreation amenities for Warren County residents at satellite locations. Recipients must be non-profit organizations located within Warren County, according to information from the Warren County manager’s office.

The grant application is available on the Warren County Parks and Recreation website https://www.warrencountync.com/345/Parks-Recreation or obtain a paper copy from the Parks and Recreation Department, located at 113 Wilcox St., Warrenton,. All applications must be submitted and received by 5 p.m. on Oct. 31. Requests may not exceed $10,000.

Warren County Pool Welcomes Swimmers

The Magnolia Ernest Recreational Pool opened this past weekend to provide pool-goers with a refreshing way to beat the summer heat through Labor Day.

The schedule is as follows:

 

This week (July 15-20) the pool is open Tuesday – Friday  from 12 noon – 5 p.m. and Saturday from 12 noon to 6 p.m.

From July 22 – Sept. 2, pool hours are Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays  from 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 12 noon – 6 p.m.

Warren Parks and Rec Summer Sports Camps

Warren County Parks and Recreation is offering multiple sports camps this summer.

Fees below are the regular registration fees.

Summer sports camp offerings include:

  • Girls Basketball Camp ($25): June 26-29, Monday-Thursday; 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; ages 8-14

(Registration deadline is June 10)

  • Co-Ed Volleyball Camp ($25): June 26-29, Monday-Thursday; 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; ages 8-14

(Registration deadline is June 10)

  • Football Camp ($15): July 5-7, Wednesday-Friday 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.; ages 6-13

(Registration Deadline is July 1)

  • Boys Basketball Camp ($20): July 10-12, Monday-Wednesday 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.; ages 8-14

(Registration deadline is July 3)

  • Girls’ Softball Camp ($15): July 24-26, Monday-Wednesday 9 a.m. -12 noon; ages 8-18

(Registration deadline is July 10)

 

All camps will be held at Warren County High School except for the football camp, which will be held at the Warren County Recreation Complex. Space is limited, so if you haven’t already signed up, please do so soon.

Interested parents and children are encouraged to visit the parks and rec website or Facebook page for information about new sports camps that may be added. And prospective instructors should email parksandrecreation@warrencountync.gov for information about how to become an instructor.

Warren Parks And Rec Girls’ Volleyball Registration Open Until Mar. 15

Registration for Warren County Parks and Recreation youth girls’ volleyball league is open now and runs through Mar. 15. The cost is $10.

The league is open to girls ages 9-18. Want to play volleyball AND softball? No problem – the parks and recreation staff will work with those participants who want to do both sports.

Warren Youth Baseball, Softball Registration Open Through Feb. 28

Registration for Warren County Parks and Recreation youth baseball and softball leagues is open the month of February. The cost is $10 per person and is for young people between the ages of 4 and 17. High school students interested in registering may register up to 18 years.

Warren County Parks and Rec. Dept. Offers Winter Art Class Jan. 21

Join the Warren County Parks and Recreation’s “Winter Art Time” program at John Graham Gym on Saturday, Jan. 21 and take home your own artwork. This free program provides all supplies needed to paint a pre-printed winter art canvas and is a perfect activity for beginning painters and any others interested in putting paint to canvas.

The 9 a.m. class is open to adults only, but the 10:30 a.m. class is open to youth and adults.

Space is limited and registrations are being taken through Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Warren Parks And Rec Offers “Holiday Hoopla Camp” For Kids 8-12

Warren County youth can register for a “Holiday Hoopla Camp” offered by Warren County Parks and Recreation at John Graham Gym in Warrenton later this month. The two-day program is for children ages 8-12 who live in Warren County, and parents can sign up for one or both days, according to information from the parks and rec department.

The dates are Wednesday, Dec. 21 and Thursday, Dec. 22 and the camp runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the gym, located at 113 Wilcox St. in Warrenton.

Wednesday’s program is $10 and includes lunch and a field trip; Thursday’s program is $5 and includes an opportunity to enjoy a “jump castle” bouncy house.

Participants will enjoy organized games, crafts and more throughout the day. Families needing transportation to the camp should indicate this on the registration form. Space is limited, so register early.

Registration must be completed by Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Warren Parks and Rec To Offer Parents’ Night Out On Oct. 28

Warren County Parks and Recreation is hosting a parents’ night out on Friday, Oct. 28.

Youth ages 6-12 will enjoy organized games, crafts, movie, and more at the Warren County Senior Center located at 435 W. Franklin St. in Warrenton.

Pizza and drinks will be provided as dinner for the youth that attend. Registration is $5 per child and the event is from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Space is limited and the deadline to register is Friday, Oct. 14.
