Warren Emergency Services To Host Duke RACE-CARS Update Meeting Mar. 30

Warren County Emergency Services will host a Duke RACE-CARS trial meeting March 30 to share information about a partnership whose goal is to save lives.

RACE-CARS is an acronym that stands for Randomized Cluster Evaluation of Cardiac Arrest Systems and Warren County is taking part in the trial study to test the implementation of community interventions to improve survival for people with cardiac arrest.

Chris Tucker, Warren County’s emergency services manager and compliance officer, said the meeting will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Warren County Emergency Services headquarters, 890 U.S. Hwy. 158 bypass, Warrenton.“This is a very important project that will affect a lot of lives in Warren County,” Tucker stated. “Come join us and hear how Warren County is saving lives one at a time.”

Warren Co. Emergency Services Offers Training On A Variety Of Life-Saving Techniques

Warren County Emergency Services will sponsor a day of training for anyone in the community who wants to learn how more about life-saving techniques, from CPR to Narcan.

The classes will repeat each hour throughout the day on Friday, Feb. 24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Chris Tucker will teach:

  • CPR basics
  • Proper use of an AED (automated external defibrillator)
  • How to administer Narcan in the event of an opioid overdose
  • Proper use of a “Stop the Bleed” kit

 

The training will take place at Warren County Emergency Services, located at 890 U.S. Hwy 158 bypass, Warrenton.

Warren County EMS To Receive AED Devices As Part Of Duke Clinical Trial Study

You’ve probably walked right past an AED and never even noticed it – they are small devices, usually mounted on a wall, that can literally save the life of someone in cardiac arrest.

Warren County Emergency Services is getting 10 AEDs – automated external defibrillators – on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

A team from Duke University’s RACE CARS program is heading to Warrenton Wednesay morning to make the presentation.

Warren County has been highlighted for its “outstanding work with cardiac arrest survival,” according to information from Charla Duncan.

Chief Joel Bartholomew and Capt. Chris Tucker are just a couple of local officials who will be on hand at 9:30 a.m.
The emergency services headquarters is located at 890 U.S. 158 Bypass in Warrenton.
