It’s Warren County Map Time Again! Two Years Since Our Last Update!
It’s hard to believe, but it was two years ago this month that we began compiling our first new Warren County map in several years…and now, it’s time to update those maps! These new maps will be released in early summer for our residents and visitors to Warren County.
As before, the support for this map will come from our great sponsoring businesses. This week, I’ll be contacting previous and new sponsors along with our representative from SouthEast Map Solutions. Once published, we’ll have more than 5,000 maps to distribute promoting our wonderful county.
We plan to include the following features in this year’s map: detailed street maps of Warrenton, Norlina & Macon – detailed road map of all roads within Warren County – update locations of more than 40 sites in the Preservation Warrenton Driving Tour of the County – update locations of the 50+ homes and businesses in the Preservation Warrenton Walking Tour of Warrenton as well as the African American Walking Tour of Warrenton – include 16 additional Rosenwald Schools identified since the last map – designation of the Haliwa-Saponi official State of NC area within Warren County.
If your business is interested in becoming a sponsor, we have a limited number of ad positions available. Each sponsor receives a minimum of 50 maps for distribution in addition to the on-map ad. Please email info@warren-chamber.org or call 252-257-2657 if you’d like to be included in this countywide project.

In a press conference today, District Attorney Mike Waters announced the arrest of two suspects related to the Nancy and John Alford murder and arson case in Warren County.
“Orders for arrest have been served on two individuals in this matter for the death of Nancy Alford. They are Kevin Munn and Lester Kearney, and they are now committed to the custody of the Warren County Sheriff. They are charged for the first-degree murder of Nancy Alford. Other charges will be pending and being served in the coming days as this investigation continues to unfold,” Waters said.
He said, “They are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, but I just again would reiterate what a pleasure it has been to work with such professional and competent law enforcement agencies across the state, particularly to see people just so committed and to work countless hours in this matter. Again, deepest sympathies to this family and this community for their loss.”
Local and state law enforcement agency cooperation since the incidents occurred last Friday aided in the apprehension of the suspects.
Waters said both suspects “were taken into custody in this community.” One was arrested in Warren County and the other in Halifax County.
The Mercedes vehicle owned by the couple was recovered after it was abandoned in Haywood County.
Waters said, “This was a robbery.” He said, “I think they knew of the couple.”
He said the suspects were not authorized for release under any bond.
Warren County Sheriff Johnny M. Williams said, “We are here today to give thanks. … We’d like to thank on behalf of the Warren County — Warrenton Wildwood Fire Department, Long Bridge Fire Department, Warren County Rescue, Warren County Sheriff’s Office personnel, SBI, the District Attorney’s Office and personnel, Warren County Emergency Management, the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Halifax Sheriff’s Office, Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia, Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia, ATF – Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Haywood County Sheriff’s Office and Roanoke Rapids Police Department.”
