The Local Skinny! Voter Registration

The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming municipal elections is fast approaching – Henderson residents have until Friday at 5 p.m. to register, if they are not already registered to do so.

The Henderson municipal elections, during which the next mayor will be elected, take place on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

Early voting begins Sept. 21 at the Andrea L. Harris Operations Center on Beckford Drive.

Remember that a photo ID is required or voting. Early voting ends on Saturday, Oct. 7.

In addition to the mayor, voters will choose City Council members for Ward 1 and Ward 2 and at-large seats for Wards 3 and 4.

The deadline is Friday, Oct. 13 to register for the Nov. 7 Kittrell and Middleburg elections.

Middleburg’s St Paul United Church of Christ to Hold Voter Registration Events

St Paul United Church of Christ will hold new voter registration events at the church’s location at the corner of 292 North Lee Avenue in Middleburg, NC.

Registration dates are:

  • Saturday, September 12, 2020, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 16, 2020, from 9 – 11 a.m. and 4 – 6 p.m.
  •  Saturday, September 19, 2020, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Vance Co. Board of Elections Open Monday-Friday for Voter Registration

This script is provided by the Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce. The H-V Chamber provides a daily “Chamber Minute” on WIZS daily between Tradio and the noon news. 

Are you registered to vote? There is still time to register before the fall elections.

In Vance County, the Board of Elections Office is located at 300 South Garnett Street, in the Dennis Building, on the corner of Winder and Garnett Streets in downtown Henderson. Office hours are Monday- Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Faye Gill is the Vance County Board of Elections Director. Stop by to pick up and fill out a voter registration form today.

Also, if you have recently moved to Vance County, or you have moved to a new home in a new district, you can go by the Board of Elections office to update your address and find out the voting site location in your new district.

The Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce encourages you to take an active part in your civic duty of being a good citizen by registering to vote.

Important Dates:

Friday, October 12, 2018 – Regular Voter Registration Deadline

Voter registration forms must be postmarked or delivered to your county elections office by 5 p.m. on October 12. Same-day registration will be available in your county during the One-Stop Early Voting period, beginning October 17 and ending November 3.

Wednesday, October 17, 2018 – Start of One-Stop Early Voting

Voters may register and vote at any One-Stop Early Voting location in their county of residence. For locations and hours, check with your county elections office or vt.ncsbe.gov/OSSite.

Tuesday, October 30, 2018 – Regular Deadline to Request a Mail-In Absentee Ballot

Requests must be received by your county elections office by 5 p.m. on October 30.

Saturday, November 3, 2018 – End of One-Stop Early Voting and Same-Day Registration

Tuesday, November 6, 2018 – ELECTION DAY

Polls will be open 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Locate your polling place at vt.ncsbe.gov/PPLkup.
