Warren County Nominees Needed For ‘Heroic Hands’ Recognition

The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners has launched an initiative called “Heroic Hands” to recognize a county government employee from each of the 100 counties across the state who goes “above and beyond in serving their county.

Warren County Commissioner Tare “T” Davis is president of the association, and it’s Warren County’s turn to submit a name for consideration.

Nominations will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, according to information from Warren County. The nomination form is available at https://www.warrencountync.com/, or it can be accessed directly at Warren County Government Employee Heroic Hands Nomination Form.

Vance Commissioner Sean Alston Named To Statewide Commissioners’ Committee

Vance County Commissioner Sean Alston has been appointed to the 2024-26 N.C. Association of Commissioners Legislative Goals Committee.

Vance County Manager C. Renee Perry said Alston is poised to make significant contributions to the committee’s efforts to promote policies that enhance the well-being of all residents in Vance County and throughout the state.

“I am honored to be appointed to the Legislative Goals Committee,” Alston said. “This is an incredible opportunity to advocate for our community’s needs and ensure our voices are heard in the legislative process. I look forward to working alongside fellow committee members to develop strategies that address critical issues facing our county.”

The Legislative Goals Committee reviews steering committee recommendations as a package — ensuring alignment and checking for conflict across subject areas. The goal of this committee is to reach a consensus on a package of goals and policy statements that will be presented to the NCACC Board of Directors and ultimately placed before the entire membership at the 2024 Legislative Goals Conference in mid-November 2024.

Granville Commissioners Begin Roles With NCACC

Two Granville County commissioners have begun leadership roles with the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners.

The NCACC kicked off a new term with the swearing in of new district directors, which include local commissioners Tony Cozart and Zelodis Jay, according to information from the NCACC.

Jay begins a two-year term as the District 8 director, which represents Granville, Person, Vance, Warren, and Franklin counties for a two-year term. Cozart will chair the group’s Public Education Steering Committee. He was appointed by incoming NCACC president Tracey Johnson to this role.

“I am honored to have been selected to serve as District 8 representative on the NCACC Board of Directors,” Jay said. “This role will give me the opportunity to serve the residents and advance the interests of Granville County as well as our fellow citizens of Person, Vance, Warren and Franklin counties on a statewide  level.”
