Aycock Rec. Center to Offer Saturday Swim Lessons This Fall

Henderson-Vance Recreation & Parks will offer fall swim lessons at the Aycock Recreation Center for ages 3 – adults. Beginning Saturday, September 15, 2018, lessons will be held each subsequent Saturday through Saturday, October 20.

The fee for the series of six lessons is $30. Registration forms and fees are due by Thursday, September 13.

Aycock Rec. Center Offering Fast-Track Swim Lessons for Ages 3 – Adult

Henderson-Vance Recreation & Parks will offer fast-track swim lessons at the Aycock Recreation Center for ages 3 – adults. Beginning Monday, September 10, 2018, lessons will take place each subsequent Monday and Thursday in September.

The fee for the series of six lessons is $30. Registration forms and fees are due by Friday, September 7.

Henderson-Vance P.U.L.L. Weekend to Feature Food, Games and Free Kids’ Haircuts!

Henderson-Vance Recreation and Parks announces the third annual Henderson – Vance P.U.L.L. (Peace – Unity – Love – Live) Weekend Friday, August 24 – Sunday, August 26, 2018.

The weekend begins with a Fire Star professional wrestling match at Aycock Recreational Complex and concludes with free haircuts for school-age kids at participating businesses.

Aycock Rec. Center to Offer Youth & Teen Volleyball Skills Camp

Henderson and Vance County youth and teens ages 7 – 14, are you interested in volleyball camp? Would you like to enhance your skills and knowledge of the game?

The 2018 Volleyball Skills and Drills Camp will be offered on Monday, July 23, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Aycock Recreation Center Gym, 307 Carey Chapel Rd, Henderson.

The instructor will be Shannon Allen, coach at Livingstone College.

Registration fee: $16

Registration deadline: Saturday, July 21, 2018

Youth “Fishing With a Mentor” Program at Fox Pond Park

Henderson-Vance Recreation & Parks, in conjunction with the City of Henderson and Vance County, announces “Fishing With a Mentor,” a program for local youth ages 6 – 18 to be held at Fox Pond Park, 375 Vicksboro Rd, Henderson.

This free program is a mentor-led, department supported event to enhance youth participation in fishing while enjoying real-life conversations centered around present-day topics while utilizing Fox Pond and its amenities.

An opening ceremony for the program will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018, from 2 – 5 p.m. at the Fox Pond Fishing Pier. Free food will be provided to participants after the event.

Dates for the fishing program include Wednesday, July 11, 18, 25 and August 1, 2018, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Those interested may register at the Aycock Recreation Center, 307 Carey Chapel Rd, Henderson.
