Vehicle B&E Reported at Time Warner Cable in Downtown Henderson

On November 28, 2016 at approximately 10:00 AM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to 215 Young St, Henderson (Time Warner Cable) in reference to a vehicle breaking and entering. Upon arrival, officers spoke with an employee who stated that sometime during the weekend someone broke into and entered one of their company vehicles (2008 Ford Escape). The reporting party advised that nothing appeared to have been taken.

The investigation is being conducted by members of the Henderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Papa John’s Delivery Driver Robbed in Henderson

On October 16, 2016 at approximately 9:44 PM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to 1526 Dabney Dr. (Papa John’s) in reference an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers found that a delivery driver for Papa John’s had been robbed in the roadway and in front of 617 Roberson St. for an undetermined amount of US currency and pizza.

The investigation is being conducted by members of the Henderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Henderson Police Department Needs Your Help

A team of Assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will arrive on December 4, 2016 to examine all aspects of the Henderson Police Department’s policy and procedures, management, operations and support services.

Verification by the team that the Henderson Police Department meets the Commission’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation – a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 6 pm. The session will be conducted at the meeting room at the City of Henderson Operations Center Conference Room, 900 South Beckford Drive. Henderson NC 27536.

If for some reason an individual cannot speak at the public information session but would like to provide comments to the assessment team, he/she may do so by telephone.  The public may call (252) 739-7040 on Monday, December 5, 2016 between the hours of 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm.

Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to five (5) minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards. Persons wishing to offer written comments about the Henderson Police Department’s ability to meet the standards for accreditation are requested to write: Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA).

The Police Department has to comply with over 440 standards in order to gain accredited status. By achieving accredited status, the department will be recognized nationally and internationally in the law enforcement community.

The assessment team is composed of law enforcement practitioners from similar but out-of-state agencies. The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals, and visit officers and other places where compliance can be witnessed. The assessing team is comprised of the team leader and one (1) additional assessor. Once the Commission’s assessors complete their review of the agency, they report back to the Commission, which will then decide if the department is to be granted accredited status.

Accreditation is for four (4) years, during which time the agency must submit annual reports attesting continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited.

Henderson PD Press Release: Breaking and Entering at Boost Mobile

On September 22, 2016 at approximately 12:56 AM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to 117 Raleigh Rd, Henderson (Boost Mobile) in reference to a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a manager who stated that nothing appeared to have been taken but did state that the cash drawer, safe and desk drawer appeared to have been moved.

Henderson PD Press Release: Shooting in Henderson

On September 16, 2016 at approximately 2:48 PM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to the area of Chavasse Ave and Champion St in reference to a person who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found Freddaire Leemon Hargrove, 27, of 426 Chavasse Ave, Henderson, suffering from a gunshot wound. Vance County EMS arrived and transported Mr. Hargrove to an area hospital for further medical treatment.

Henderson PD Press Release: Robbery at Dabney Drive Cruizers Store

On August 14, 2016 at approximately 4:10 PM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to the Magistrates Office in reference an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers found that a Ms. Talaya Rogers had been robbed in the parking lot of Cruizers, 800 Dabney Dr., while attempting to purchase a cellular phone from a subject that had posted an ad on Facebook.

Henderson PD News Release

On July 29, 2016 at approximately 6:36 AM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to 1215 Old Norlina Road (Henderson Fruit and Produce) in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers found that an employee, Steven Robert Mustian, had been held at gunpoint while opening the business. The suspects followed Mustian inside the business where an undetermined amount of US currency was taken. Mustian was able to escape the suspects without incident.

“Walk the Beat” with the Henderson PD

On May 2nd, the Henderson Police Department is launching a new initiative called “Walk the Beat.” At designated times throughout the day, members of the Henderson Police Department will be out and about in the downtown area. This is in addition to our normal patrols. Officers will be joining the growing number of downtown walkers, runners, and cyclists in hopes of becoming healthier, and to invigorate the use of our attractive downtown landscape.

This will be a 7 day a week event and starting at 6am-9am, 12noon-2pm, and 5pm-7pm.

Henderson Man Arrested on Federal Gun Charge

On Monday, March 28, 2016, members of the Henderson Police Department Special Operations Unit arrested a Henderson man on federal gun charges. Ismil Rasheed Jeffers, 22, 113 Breland Drive, Henderson was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant.

Jeffers has been charged after a federal grand jury handed down a one count indictment in this matter. The charges stem from an incident on October 19, 2015 in Henderson. Jeffers was placed into the custody of the United States Marshall Service pending a hearing in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
