HPD Crime of the Month: Another Domino’s Pizza Delivery Driver Robbed

Press Release: February 1, 2017

On January 26, 2017 at approximately 8:50 PM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to 156 Church Street (Vance County Sheriff’s Office) in reference an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers found that a delivery driver for Domino’s Pizza had been robbed in the roadway of the 300 block of Gary Street for an undetermined amount of US currency and thirty-two dollars’ worth of pizza.

The investigation is being conducted by members of the Henderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division. If anyone should have any information related to this case, they are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 252-492-1925 or the Henderson Police Department at 252-438-4141. Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $2,000 for information that may lead to an arrest. Callers may remain anonymous.

Henderson PD Press Release: Shooting in Henderson

On September 16, 2016 at approximately 2:48 PM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to the area of Chavasse Ave and Champion St in reference to a person who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found Freddaire Leemon Hargrove, 27, of 426 Chavasse Ave, Henderson, suffering from a gunshot wound. Vance County EMS arrived and transported Mr. Hargrove to an area hospital for further medical treatment.

The investigation is being conducted by members of the Henderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers Garners State Award

Last night at the Daniel Boone Inn in Boone, NC, the Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers were presented the productivity award from the North Carolina Crime Stoppers Association. The Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers received this award for their help in continuing to build the working relationship between the Henderson Police Department and the Vance County Sheriff’s Office. Lorraine Watkins, the Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers President, told WIZS, “It takes an entire board working together to receive an award like this. I’ve got a great board, and this is their reward for all their hard work.”

Four members of the Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers board of directors attended the North Carolina Crime Stoppers Association’s annual convention to meet fellow Crime Stoppers, generate new ideas, and offer assistance to other Crime Stopper groups across North Carolina.

Henderson PD Press Release: Shots Fired at Moving Vehicle on David Street

On August 25, 2016 at approximately 10:30 PM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to the area of 331 Corbitt Rd in reference to a motor vehicle that had been shot. Upon arrival, officers spoke to Jamersira Semaj Brodie, 22, of 331 Corbitt Rd, whose vehicle had been shot while traveling on David St.

Henderson PD Press Release: Robbery at Dabney Drive Cruizers Store

On August 14, 2016 at approximately 4:10 PM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to the Magistrates Office in reference an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers found that a Ms. Talaya Rogers had been robbed in the parking lot of Cruizers, 800 Dabney Dr., while attempting to purchase a cellular phone from a subject that had posted an ad on Facebook.

Vance County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit Announces Marijuana Arrest

Sheriff Peter White announces the following arrest by the Vance County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit:

Timothy Randall Beckham, 560 Little Rosewood Lane, Henderson, NC 27537

Age: 53

Charges: Manufacture of Marijuana and Possession of Non-Tax paid Alcoholic Beverages

Bond: $7,000

Court Date: 09/26/2016

The Vance County Drug Enforcement Unit with the assistance of NC National Guard Counter Drug Support Program arrested the above individual after spotting approximately 20 mature Marijuana Plants on the property of 560 Little Rosewood Lane. A further search of the property uncovered a homemade distillery and approximately four gallons or more of non-tax paid liquor and approximately 55 gallons of mash waiting to be processed. The estimated street value of the Marijuana is $1,200 per plant and $100 per gallon of non-tax paid liquor.

Robbery at Kerr Lake Bait and Tackle – Arrests Made

Two individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with the August 9th robbery of Kerr Lake Bait and Tackle on Nutbush Road.

Leonardo Martinez, 30, of Cary is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiring to rob with a dangerous weapon. He is currently housed in the Wake County Jail under a $100,000 bond.

The second individual, Dalton Christmas, 23, of Raleigh was also charged in the robbery. He is facing a charge of robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiring to rob with a dangerous weapon. His bond is set at $400,000. He is also being held in the Wake County Jail.

They both are scheduled to appear in Vance County Court on August 29th.

Henderson PD News Release

On July 22, 2016 at approximately 11:00 p.m. officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to 1041 East Montgomery Street in reference to a person who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found Qualik Shearin, 20, of 1041 East Montgomery Street, suffering from a gunshot wound. Vance County EMS arrived and transported Shearin to an area hospital for further medical treatment.

Henderson PD Press Release – Shooting

Press Release: May 16, 2016

On May 15, 2016, at approximately 4:00 AM officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to 1524 Dabney Drive in reference to a person who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found Corey Cheek Jr, 21, of 315 Davis Street, Henderson, suffering from a gunshot wound. Vance County EMS arrived and transported Mr. Cheek to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Tamar Unique Daye, 24, of 112 Old Baker Street, Oxford has been arrested and charged with second degree murder. She was placed in the Vance County Jail under no bond. The investigation at this time indicates that Corey Cheek and Tamar Daye were involved in a domestic relationship.
