Big Ruin Creek Missionary Baptist Church Celebrates 143 Years Sunday

Big Ruin Creek Missionary Baptist Church is observing its 143rd anniversary Sunday and invites the community to join in the celebration.

The worship service begins at 11 a.m. Pastor Charles W. Burwell will deliver the sermon; Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m.

The C.W. Walton Voices of Praise will provide special music for the occasion and a meal will follow the service.

The church is located at 16 Big Ruin Creek Lane.

Anyone unable to attend in person can view the service online, which will be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page.

 

May 21 Plate Fundraiser Home Cooked Food

Big Ruin Creek Missionary Baptist Church is having a fundraiser, and the resulting food options are going to be many.

There will be a plate sale on May 21 at 11 a.m.  It will take place at 421 Pearl Street, Henderson.

The menu will include baked chicken, fish and meatloaf for $8 each.  Chitterlings and barbecue will be $10 each.  If you would like a combination plate, no problem.  Combination plates will be $12 each.

Sides will consist of collard greens, turnip greens, cabbage, macaroni and cheese, potato salad and cornbread.

As the notice asking WIZS to announce this said, “Come and get some good home cooked food.”

Big Ruin Creek Missionary Baptist to Hold Anniversary Celebration for Pastor

Big Ruin Creek Missionary Baptist Church will hold an anniversary celebration for Pastor Charles Burwell on Sunday, November 24, 2019, at 4 p.m.

Rev. John Silver of Red Bud Baptist Church will be in attendance, along with his choir and church family.

Pastor Burwell will preach for the morning service beginning at 11 a.m. Dinner will be served after the morning service.

The church is located at 16 Big Ruin Creek Lane in Henderson.

Health Wellness Fair Saturday

Big Ruin Creek Missionary Baptist Church is having a Health and Wellness Fair this Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  The event will take place at Northern Vance High School, located at 293 Warrenton Road.

Keasha Richardson told WIZS News, “There will be several medical doctors, several nurses, several UNC dental students, a couple of psychologists, one or two financial planners, at least one attorney, school counselors, a personal trainer, a Zumba instructor, several of our church members, and several other vendors there to share tips about total wellness.”

The hope is to encompass every area of need. There will be some on-site health screenings.

“We hope to have something for everyone, including children.  The event is free and open to the public/community at large. We are also collecting water to send to Flint, Michigan and are accepting water donations from anyone who is willing to donate,” Richardson said.
